How the midpoint is computed
Averaging latitudes and longitudes fails badly over long distances (and hilariously across the date line). This tool converts each point to 3-D vectors on the sphere, averages them, and projects back — the true geographic midpoint, equidistant along great circles for two points and the balance point for three. For a drive-time-fair meeting spot, treat it as the starting search area: roads rarely cooperate exactly.

Is the midpoint fair for both sides?
It's the exact geographic midpoint — equal great-circle distance from both starting points. Road networks aren't symmetric though, so treat it as the search area and pick a town from the nearest-places list.
Can I find the middle of three locations?
Yes — add the optional third place and the tool balances all three (the 3-D centroid method). Handy for three-household meetups.
